CT Cafe: Changing Tides' Space for Open Mental Health Conversations

Have you heard about CT Cafe?

CT Cafe is  a core part of our mission to open up the conversation about mental health. No matter where you are in your mental health journey, there’s something for you at CT Cafe!

What is CT Cafe?

CT Cafe is a series of both in-person and virtual sessions where folks from all walks of life can join together to talk openly about mental health topics. Previous topics include: ___.

Where does the name come from??

The name "CT Cafe" is inspired by the idea of a cafe setting—a place for relaxed, open conversations. With a nod to our friend @fckyeahcoffee, we wanted to create a space where discussions on mental health could be as normal as a chat over coffee.

The Origin of CT Cafe

Born out of COVID-19 isolation and mental health impacts, Changing Tides initiated CT Cafe as a platform for our community to engage in meaningful dialogues, even when apart.

When and Where?

After positive feedback from our 2020 virtual sessions, we expanded CT Cafe to include in-person sessions. We now offer both online and in-person sessions. Our last  in-person gathering at allcove Beach Cities on August 26, 2023, focused on the impact of social media on mental health.

Who Can Attend CT Cafe?

Everyone aged 14 and above is welcome. Whether you're local or joining from a distance, CT Cafe is here for you.

Recap: CT Cafe at allcove Beach Cities

Our most recent session at allcove Beach Cities on August 26, 2023, was a testament to the power of community. We delved into the impact of social media on mental health. The serene setting of allcove Beach Cities provided the perfect backdrop for our attendees to share, learn, and connect. The discussions were insightful, with participants sharing personal experiences. For those unfamiliar, allcove Beach Cities is a youth-centric center offering many mental health and wellness services.

Highlight: Kizuna Summer Camp Workshop

On July 26, 2023, Changing Tides attended the Pasadena Kizuna Summer Camp. We adapted our CT Cafe model for 50 campers aged 7-13, discussing feelings and emotions with supporting hands-on activities.
