therapy Stipend program

for up to 10 therapy sessions per participant

**In light of the recent California fires, our CA Fire Relief Stipend is intended for those 16 years old and up impacted by the events. This stipend is now open to anyone who is directly experiencing hardship, with our expertise being based in the Asian American Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander communities.

This Fire Relief Stipend will allow for up to 8 sessions per client.**

Changing Tides (CT) has seen a dire need to address the current mental health crises impacting AAPI youth in our communities. Mental health services can be inaccessible for numerous reasons, including but not limited to: stigma surrounding mental illness, lack of easy access to culturally-sensitive providers, language barriers, economic instability, and unavailability and inaccessibility of services. Our goal is to reduce obstacles for AAPI youth.

WHAT IS THE CT STREAM?

CT Stream is a Changing Tides sponsored stipend program intended for AAPI youth and young adults (ages 16 – 29) who are first-time non-acute therapy seekers or currently unable to afford the costs of therapy. The goal of this program is to provide an accessible, transparent, and inclusive opportunity to obtain mental health services. Participating mental health professionals will receive a $150 stipend per session for their services. Participants will have no financial requirements.

  • Up to 10 non-acute therapy sessions (virtual or in-person) with a mental health professional from our directory.

  • Limited number of stipends available for California residents with priority given to earliest submissions.

  • This stipend intends to cover costs for non-acute therapeutic services (such as moderate depression and anxiety).

  • Our intake coordinator will review requests, follow-up with supplemental questions, and provide options of therapists in our directory that might be a good fit for each individual.*

  • This stipend will not cover the costs of medication.

  • Post-stipend resources (subscriptions to wellness apps, referrals for ongoing therapy) and supplementary programming.

    • The CT Flow Peer Support group is no longer meeting at this time. Please contact myonemura@ltsc.org if you want updates on the return of Peer Support

*Please note: requests for a CT Stream stipend do not guarantee participation in the program
